What we collect, why, and how to get out of our emails at any time.

Who we are

This site and its newsletter are run by Hive Fuel, a sole proprietorship based in Ontario, Canada.

Email newsletter and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

• Express consent only. We only email you if you type in your address and tick the consent box yourself. The box is never pre-ticked. We record when and where you signed up so we can show we have your consent.
• What you're signing up for. The weekly fuel price check, and, only if you tick that separate box, a note when the Hive Fuel honey stick is available.
• Who it's from. Every email identifies Hive Fuel as the sender and includes our mailing address and a way to contact us.
• Unsubscribe any time. Every email has a free unsubscribe link. We act on unsubscribe requests right away, and always within 10 business days.
• We don't sell or rent your email address.

Our email service provider is Kit (ConvertKit), which stores subscriber data on our behalf and may store it outside Canada. TODO: confirm provider and data location once the Kit account exists.

Poll answers

If you answer our poll, we store your answer. If you also give your email, we link the answer to it so we can tell you about the product you said you'd try.

Analytics

We use basic, privacy-friendly analytics to count page views, which pages people visit, which store links get clicked and roughly where visitors come from (country or referring site). We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't try to identify individual visitors. TODO: name the analytics tool (e.g. Cloudflare Web Analytics) and confirm whether it sets cookies.

Affiliate links and other sites

When you click a store link, you leave this site. The retailer or affiliate network (for example Amazon.ca, AvantLink or Impact) may use cookies to record that you came from Hive Fuel, under their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
